Abundant Life Center is a vibrant and loving community of individuals and families who seek to celebrate and nurture life together.

Founded in 1993, ALC was first known as Vancouver New Thought Church. We are independent of any governing body. We support one another with love and compassion by honoring all of the world religions, including earth based spiritual traditions. To assist our community in spiritual growth, we offer positive, uplifting Sunday services, classes, workshops, retreats, and social events, as well a large metaphysical lending library.

You need not be a member of ALC to benefit from what our community has to offer. Please call our church office (360-695-0211) if you have any questions or concerns you’d like to share.

Clear Vision Naturally

Clear Vision…Naturally teaches better eyesight without glasses using the original ‘Bates Method’ as a foundation. Other methods and disciplines are added to the process to make it truly a holistic approach.

Dr. William H. Bates, a pioneer ophthalmologist, researcher and teacher questioned the current theories and practices of his day. Through research using folks with good vision as a guide, Dr. Bates sought to discover what was different about their vision from folks who had poor vision and wore glasses. As a result of this research activities and exercises have been developed to restore good vision habits and clear vision. It will work for nearsightedness, farsightedness, presbyopia, and astigmatism and is very useful to relieve eyestrain from working at the computer.

           A Course in Miracles

A Course in Miracles was "scribed" by Dr. Helen Schucman through a process of inner dictation she identified as coming from Jesus. A clinical and research psychologist and tenured Associate Professor of Medical Psychology, she was assisted by Dr. William Thetford, her department head, who was also a tenured Professor of Medical Psychology at the Medical Center where they both worked.

What exactly, then, is A Course in Miracles? The summary introduction, which appears in its Text, is quite succinct and brief. It reads:

"This is a course in miracles. It is a required course. Only the time you take it is voluntary. Free will does not mean that you can establish the curriculum. It means only that you can elect what you want to take at a given time. The course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love, for that is beyond what can be taught. It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love's presence, which is your natural inheritance. The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite.

This course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way:

Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God
